The Artisan level of KichenAid mixer is exactly the right level of convenience and power for most home cooks. Plenty of power for breads. Fast and gentle enough for meringues and cream. We had a red one of these for about 8 years and just sold it on EBay for $150, it was in like new condition. The new Chrome one will never have to b e traded for a new color.
