Low Price KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

At first I thought that my mixer would be too cumbersome to use on a regular basis. I was WRONG! It's easy to assemble, it's easy to take apart and it's easy to clean. The pouring shield that is included is an absolute must-have. The beater, dough hook & whisk that are included are sturdy and thorough.

I would get this mixer over a cheaper version any day.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

This mixer really does do so much more than any other mixer. most mixers cannot mix bread dough or the motor will burn out, kitchenaid has mixed hundreds of loaves of different types of breads for my family. I have owned it since 1985 and never have had any problems. cleans easily and still looks brand new. Whips cream, egg whites and even hot milk better than any other utensil or appliance I have used. After owning this mixer, I have now replaced every appliance I own with kitchen aid.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Cheapest KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

This mixer is a classic, and there are some improvements in this model over the one my mom had. First, the color! While the Kitchen Aid orange is paler than the FrancisFrancis! espresso machine, it's a nice orange. Second, the smaller size of the bowl is a big hit with me. The mixer part flips up so you can remove the bowl or add ingredients, making the whole thing easier to use and to clean. The power is amazing.

The first time I used it, I made mashed potatoes. I put three pounds or so of boiled potatoes in there, locked the paddle attachment in place, turned the unit on the lowest speed--I could scarcely turn the thing off quickly enough and I had wonderful mashed potatoes with skins mixed nicely throughout.

There really is no reason to have another mixer than this one unless you need a larger size or are so accustomed to the labors of the hand mixer that you couldn't adapt to flipping a switch and watching the mixing commence.

And of course it's sturdy. Great mixer. No complaints.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Cheap KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I got this as a house warming gift and it has been a delight ever since. After nearly a year of making cookies like crazy it shows no signs of giving up, in fact it seems to be getting better with each use. The pouring spout is nice when adding ingredients, otherwise you have to have an impressive aim. It never groans under the pressures of a stiff dough and is easy to clean up. Whipping cream is slick work as well. The sexy red color is a definite bonus for my kitchen.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

I saved up for this mixer for the last four months. If I had known that I was going to love it as much as I do, I don't think that I would have had the dicipline to wait to purchase it. I made up a batch of icing today that normaly takes at least 10 minutes to mix with a hand held mixer. (I have even burned out the motor on a hand held making this.) No kidding, my icing was mixed, fluffy and ready to spread in 30 seconds!!! I will never use another mixer. I would give it 10 stars if I could. FYI - If you plan to buy this mixer, and have the patience, watch for sales and rebates. Purchase KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I have had 2 Kitchenaid mixers, the second of which was purchased about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, like the first, it broke down after only 3 years, this despite the fact that the most they were used was once a month, rarely mixing anything denser than cream cheese. The hurdles involved in getting it repaired made it more feasible for me to toss it in the dumpster and by a less expensive and hopefully more reliable product from Sunbeam!Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

I have coveted my mother's mixer since she got one when I was in high school. I finally received one for Christmas a few years ago. It's used a couple of times a month, on average, and sees heavy use around the holidays. I use it for mashed potatoes, for breads, for hummus, and for whipped cream, along with the normal cookies and cakes. I've never had a problem with it. It's easy to clean and is very reliable. It's heavy, so I don't have to worry about it tipping. I like the classic lines and the blue color complements just about everything.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Where To Buy KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I bought one of these for myself last year. I'm not a heavy user, but it has performed well for any work I've done, is easy to use, clean and maintain. Overall, I'm quite a happy customer.

I was so pleased with it that I later purchased one as a gift for my sister and had it shipped to Canada. When she opened the package, there was a small scratch on the top of the unit. She called the US KitchenAid number, who said they could not help her and gave her the KitchenAid number for Canada. When she called them, besides being rude, they were unhelpful. They also said that the warranty was void as soon as the product left the US. A warning for anyone thinking about buying for use outside the US, or those who may be moving outside the country.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

After a lengthly search for the perfect stand mixer Kitchen Aid combined the performance qualities we wanted with the perfect purple color. Wow, do we get the most delightful comments! My son calls it my "Purple-People-Eater" & said he wouldn't be surprised if they made this model just for me. The color is just a bonus compared to the wonderful performance derived from this mixer.
We have made bread & pizza dough that I would never have attempted before. Homemade mayonaise is now a whiz to prepare. Our family's favorite is how well it whips the egg whites to perfection for the lightest, mile-high souffles we've ever experienced. Creamy mashed potatoes are effortlessly made with nary a lump in sight. The whole family is now actually volunteering to help instead of hiding until dinner is ready. Cooking together - what a concept!
This mixer was well worth waiting for & we all are looking forward to using it in another "Great Grape Escape" into the culinary world.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Useful, sturdy, powerful....only a few adjectives to describe this machine. If you like to cook and/or bake, you need one.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Review

I'm certainly no expert, since this is the first stand mixer I've owned, but I've had it for about 6 weeks now and I have really used it. I've been kneading bread dough with it at least once a week (and I never baked bread from scratch before) and making muffins and cookies, whipped potatoes, pizza dough, anything and everything. I haven't used the wire whip yet. Both of the other attachments and the bowl I've been washing in the dishwasher with great success. I've mixed up double batches of bread dough, pizza dough, and muffins, with lots of room to spare in the bowl and no apparent strain on the motor. I haven't needed to go past the first two speeds. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and looks great on my counter. I couldn't be more pleased.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Best Quality

I got this mixer for Christmas last year, and I absolutely love it!

The first thing that's great about it is how stylish it is, and how great it looks on my counter. Everyone who comes to my apartment always comments on how beautiful it is, and I've found myself buying other kitchen gadgets to match it.

The second thing that's really great is how solid, heavy, and well made this thing is. It sits firmly on the counter and tears through most things I've mixed in it easily. It does tend to "walk" around a bit when kneading bread dough, but that just requires keeping an eye on it. Even the bowl, paddle, whisk and dough hook are heavy and solid. I was also impressed with the KitchenAid warranty and reputation.

Now, the really important thing - the exceptionally great job this thing does mixing. So far I've used it to make many batches of cookies, and loaves of bread (it's got the capacity for two sandwich sized loaves at a time - any more than that and I think it would splash flour around), twice backed potatoes, and muffins, and I've used the whisk to make meringue and angel food cake. I've used it for just about everything I bake, and not only does it do a better job than either hand stirring, a hand beater, or my old stand mixer, it's faster and easier to boot. I think where this baby really shines is the bread. The powerful motor can handle kneading the sticky bread dough for 8 minutes at a time, and the dough comes out perfect. One thing I especially like is the fact that Rose Levy Berenbaum's "The Bread Bible" gives mixing times and speed setting for KitchenAid mixers specifically. That book was probably the deciding factor in my desire for this mixer.

If I could give this mixer 10/5 stars, I would. It really is an outstanding peice of kitchen hardware.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Get it now!

I inherited my Kitchen Aid mixer from my parents, and it's still going strong after living almost as long as I have (only 30 years, which for people isn't much, but for an appliance is a lifetime). Between my mother, father, and I, I think we've made thousands of cakes, pastas, cookies, sausages, souffles and other wonderful things and this mixer shows absolutely no signs of giving up. It has 5 speeds, is plenty powerful for mixing even the biggest batch of tough dough, and comes with attachments that let you grind meat, make pasta, and a whole slew of other things. It even has a splash guard for big batches, so you can keep your kitchen clean.

Compared to hand mixers or almost any other brand of mixer, the Kitchen Aid is superior. You can feel the quality in every part, from the heft of the mixer itself, to the fabulous joint that connects the top to the bottom stand, to the switch that turns it on and off: everything about it is made with care and attention to detail.

Even if all you do is make cookies, it's worth it to get this mixer. It cleans up easily, and is a cinch to use. You'll pass it on to your kids. I know I will.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

We have just ordered our 2nd KitchenAid Mixer. The 1st one just broke the tilt base after almost 40 years of bread dough, cake mixes, and grinding for a house hold of 6. Everything (except the broken base) is still working just like it was new, no oil leaks or funny noises. KitchenAid doesn't make replacement parts available to individuals, so we are getting another one. Changing from the then popular Avacado green color to a gray. I bought the KitchenAid KSM150PSBU Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer in Cobalt Blue last Christmas form Amazon for $199.99 that also came with a free smaller mixing bowl and timer. The mixer is great and such a dream to use. I love home made chocolate chip cookies cause the chips stay gooey and you can't buy cookies like that in stores. I hated to make them with my old hand mixer but this now is amazing. All you do is drop in the ingredients and let the mixer do the rest. Everything mixes just right, butter to sugar and flour are perfect. Only thing i do by hand is mix in the chips and nuts. I found it mixes things at the sides and bottom fine but like even hand mixers you still need to scrap but after you do just turn it on and way it goes. If you like to bake even if it's just using prepared cake mixes you will love this machine.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

With two kids in the house it was time to upgrade from the $99 mixer and had our eye on this. With the color choices it was a no brainer. For us it was Grape....at first (having a brown kitchen) would that look...perfect!!!

I like the fact that it is so fast to make cupcakes, bread, pasta, cakes, cookies, anything for the kids. They love having treats and I actually get more time to do things with my wife.

First, the mixer works great. Everything most home-bakers could ever want. But I strongly suggest you select a smooth finish. I got the Krinkle Gray. (Don't know if thats still available.) It looks very 'professional', but it's hard to keep clean. After the first batch of bread dough, the mixer was nearly white, and it took some serious scrubbing to get the flour off the textured surface.

As to the mechanics of the mixer itself, very few complaints. The tilt-head makes it possible to remove the bowl without dismantling the beater (unlike the lift-bowl models). I mainly use the dough hook, and have found that the motor tends to bog down just a bit on extremely heavy doughs. But as I always do the final kneading by hand anyway, its not a major issue; just a little more hand work.

If I ever buy another stand mixer, it will definately be a KitchenAid. Thing is, this mixer will probably outlast me by decades.

Welcome to the mixer
We will mix your food

Can mix up really good

And we can mix 5 quarts
Stir it as you please.
If you've got the money, honey,
We got your disease.

Cheap KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

If you love to bake, this gadget is by far the best thing you need to own in your kitchen. I just bought my first kitchen aid mixer in cobalt blue (awesome color!) and since I've had it, its been non-stop baking. For one, I got it for a great deal (the best deal) of 156 dollars including tax and shipping. I've priced it everywhere and it can go over two hundred fifty dollars. Amazon shipped it to me in two days without charging extra on a quicker shipment. But the best part of it is, I can leave the mixer going while I have my hands free to wash dirty dishes, put away the ingredients, have less dishes to wash, and the list goes on. For years, I've been wanting this mixer and now that I have one, I don't know why I was dumb enough not to have one. This Christmas I'm saving money on baking for my friends and family. I think from now on I am going to bake for presents. Baking is a whiz with my mixer -- you have to own one until you really figure out what I'm talking about. Buying KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

My husband and I decided to buy this for a mutual Valentines day present this year and I couldn't be happier! A slight and easy adjustment gets the bottom dry bits (as some have complained about) and mine is very very quiet.

I have never had an experience with a stand mixer before- my grandmother uses a fork, my mom uses hand mixers- I had a hand mixer for years. I finally blew the motor on my 4th hand mixer last christmas (2 in the same holiday!) and we decided to just buy the stand mixer. My eggs are fluffy- my whipped cream is light and airy- my cookies are well mixed. You can leave it going for as long as you like while you get ingredients and put them in, and it's so quiet you can watch TV with it on in the next room.

Plus- with a mixer in fire engine red... It makes me smile every time I walk into the kitchen and see it!Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

I have wanted this mixer for a few years now, after exhaustive research, and couldn't be more pleased! Granted, since I just got it about a week ago, I haven't had much time to play with it, but I got up early the other morning (very out of character) and knocked out FOUR loaves of bread, two of which were a dense wheat type, with no problems. I see myself loving this mixer for years to come! It does smell like it is overheating when you are working with the heavier doughs, but the manual warns you of it, and says it's OK, so don't panic.
Might I also recommend the new silicone baking pans -- things pop right out! I also got an Ove-Glove -- pretty cool, but don't forget you don't have one on the other hand (been there, won't make the same mistake twice). Anyway, the Artisan can be had for a steal if you hit it at the right time, especially on Amazon, and it comes in so many fun colors these days -- how could you pass it up?Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

About me. Aircraft technician for 23 years, I love to cook, I am a perfectionist and, I hate cheap tools. I purchased this mixer as a to me gift for christmas. On New Years day I thought I would break it in by baking a red velvet cake. While mixing the light and fluffy frosting I heard something let loose in the mixer and in a instant there was a spark and than the circut breaker blew. Well I was able to frost my cake and than my attention was turned to this 200 dollar tool I had purchased. I reset the circuit breaker and atempted to run the mixer. It kind of ran but I could tell there was something other than my fluffy frosting holding the 350 watt motor back. Having had alot of expereance taking things apart and being very curious I had to take a look at what made the thing tick. I removed the back cover and it became very clear that this is not the Kitchen Aid stand mixer my mother used to make two cakes a week with when I was a kid. You would think that for over 200 dollars the machine would have some sort of solid state speed control. I was very surprised to see a very cheap looking reostat devise that looks like it came out of my old electric race car set speed controller that I had as a kid. What a disapointmant. The part that came apart was some sort of spring roller clip on the motor shaft. When it let loose it got stuck in the reostat and shorted the thing out. The reasons I am writting this review are 1. This mixer has almost a five star satisfaction rating. This rating influenced my purchase. 2. Kitchen Aid is living off an American made tradition of high quality. This mixer is not American made and the quality is low. 3. As a consumer I am tired of companies main concern being the bottom line. I would gladly pay more for solidstate construction. In conclusion this mixer may do the job its intended to do but don't be surpised if it breaks down. After all why would there be so many remanufactored units for sale if there wasn't a quality problem. Amazon . com will be getting this unit back and hopefully the replacement will hold together a little longer than the first.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Where To Buy KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I'm sure just about everyone has heard that Kitchen Aides are a fabulous accessory to the kitchen. I agree. This is a good, solid, powerful machine and is very effective at what it is built to do--mix stuff. I do have one complaint, however. The speed control shows "Off/0, Stir 2 4 6 8 10" which would lead one to think that there are 10 distinct speeds. There are not. First of all, there are little "stops" at each number, but none in between so what would make more sense is "0 Stir 2 3 4 5 6". Second, there really isn't any speed difference between what is marked as 8 and 10, so really our modified numbering system should stop at 5, not 6. This is a really little thing and does not detract from the overall quality of the mixer itself; it just feels deceptive to me and so I don't like it. This aside, however, it is a great mixer.

I have been told that the attachments make the mixer even more useful and versatile. I looked into this a bit, but I was surprised to find out that the cost of these attachments can be as much as getting a separate meat grinder, pasta press, cheese greater, etc. I suspect the real advantage is that these attachments save space.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

I have owned my KitchenAid mixer for about nine years now and have had no problems with it at all. It makes easy work of routine chores such as whipping potatoes, mixing batter and kneading bread dough, and encourages the taking on of more ambitious projects as well. The 325 watt motor has ample power for most amateur cooks. Persons who plan to use their mixer to make many or large batches of bread might benefit from the larger, more powerful model that features a spiral dough hook, which does a superior job of kneading dough. KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Review

I received this as a gift. I love to bake but really only get an opportunity to use my KA once a week. That said, I have had a problem with the small amount of oil from the machinery leaking out of the head of it (I can always wipe oil off of it before baking). I called their customer service and was told that this happens when the machine is not turned on a lot...that the oil seeps into the head and leaks out. WHAT?!?! Sure, it is food grade oil (meaning one can eat it and not get poisoned)but I do not like seeing it in my freshly ground meat or spotting my kneaded bread dough.

Now, before mixing anything, I will turn the machine on for a few minutes to get the oil back up where it belongs as per the directions of the friendly customer service person. She assured me that it was okay-that seeing more than a cup full of oil was bvad but this small amount was ok. (um...ok) That still does not do the trick-I still see oil. During the month of December, I used this mixer almost every day and still had the problem. For what was paid for the Artisan, I should not have to worry about "food grade oil" seeping into my food! Not only that but it cannot be good for the gear assembly for the levels of oil to be constantly seeping out.

After calling several other KA owners and being told they do NOT have this problem, I am going to call KA back and ask for a replacement.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Top Quality

For years and years, I wanted one of these mixers, but always thought, too big, too expensive, I'll wait... When I finally bought the Artisan style at a great price on Amazon, I thought I might be disappointed after so much anticipation. But this mixer is terrific. It's even better than I could have imagined. Powerful, easy-to-use, attractive, easy clean up. I baked every night for a month at first because it is so effortless with this mixer. What a difference this makes after years of handhelds that splatter everywhere, tire my arm, overheat. I'll never go back.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Has there ever been anyone who wasn't delighted with their KitchenAid mixer? These beasts are the standard for mixing, whether it's the tabletop mixers so many of us enjoy, the big Hobart-labeled version found in bakeries, or the *really* big Hobart mixers used to prepare rocket fuel at Thiokol and similar companies.

My particular KitchenAid was purchased by my mother around 1964, and passed on to me around ten years ago. I think it's been serviced once in those 40 years. Try that with any other brand!Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Best Quality

My husband gave me my own KitchenAid Artisan mixer several years ago, but for years I had been using the Kitchen Aid stand mixer that was given to my mom and dad as a wedding gift in 1946. And, believe it or not, that almost 60 year old mixer still works and I sometimes use both of them at one time when I have a large amount of cooking to do. Even though I've had good service from our "heirloom" as I call it, I had always wanted my own that I could use as my own personal workhorse in the kitchen. If someone enjoys cooking and baking, these mixers are the best you can buy and are worth every penny. I've never found better equipment for making the cakes and frostings that I'm famous for in my family and I think I've covered the gamut of celebrations from birthday's to my son's groom's cake thanks to our Kitchen Aid mixers. And, let's not even talk about mashed potatoes and other yummy stuff. While it's often said that husbands shouldn't give kitchen items to their wives for gifts, a Kitchen Aid item in the cobalt blue (which goes with my kitchen) is for me an appreciated gift that is as decorative as it is practical. My cobalt blue mixer was the start of my own still growing collection of KitchenAid small appliance. The blender and mini-chopper are also excellent buys. Another thing I like about KitchenAid, is the appliances are made in the USA. And, if you need to talk to customer service (which I did only once and that was because of my own error, not a problem with the appliance,) you talk to someone in the US. No need to try to decipher accented English that inevitably leads to confusion and disappointing service. It's wonderful to see an American company keep its jobs at home.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Get it now!

I got my Kitchenaid at the end of November, 2004, and it's wonderful! Mixing up a batch of cookies now takes no time whatsoever. Even for more labor-intensive recipes, I'm pretty much done in fifteen minutes.

As suggested in one of the online articles I read, I selected a permanent location in my kitchen for my Kitchenaid prior to its arrival and, even now, when I'm not using it, I have to admit to casting a doting glance or two in its direction. I went with the standard white, and thought before receiving it, that I was going to be bored with it, since it's not one of the more intriguing colors. Now that I have it, though, the color doesn't even make a difference - white works with my kitchen, but even if it didn't, I'll NEVER part with my Kitchenaid!

I got the best price I've seen anywhere, on Amazon for my Kitchenaid. If you find it at a price that's good for you, don't hesitate if you've been wanting one - buy it!! You won't regret it!Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Decide Now

I've been wanting one of these for years. The free shipping and rebate made Amazon a good deal. So for my birthday, I went for it. Now I'm wondering why I waited so long. Granted, you probably won't use this everyday. It still beats dealing with a wobbly bowl and a hand mixer.

There are a lot more color options available on Amazon too. I just had to have the tangerine mixer. If that doesn't suit your fancy, there are a bunch of other choices available. I also decided against the refurbished model. I'd rather spend the extra $$ for a new machine. I figure this is an investment that will last a lifetime.

The one complaint or caution i have is that the mixers don't go entirely to the bottom of the bowl. You need to mix things a little by hand when you're done. Otherwise, you'll have some unmixed goods at the very bottom. It's still a great machine and worth every penny.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Right now

In February, an Onyx Black KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer joined its cousin the KitchenAid food processor in my kitchen. All I can say is WHY oh why did I wait so long? (OK, I know, it is because I am thrifty to the bone, the curse of my Scottish ancestry.)

Sensibly timing my purchase for arrival during a few vacation days, in just the first 10 days of ownership, I've made cookies, more cookies, cakes, whipped egg whites, bread dough, more bread dough, pizza dough, and oh-so-sticky English Muffin dough. The mixer excelled in every use, and once the head is locked down, very successfully kneaded the bread, English muffin and pizza doughs without walking across the counter - my old Sunbeam was an accomplished walker, not a great feature in a mixer.

I read the reviews, and as yet have seen none of the few problems reported by others. I did adjust the height of the paddle to better scrape the bottom of the bowl - a simple adjustment not requiring anything more than a screwdriver (although you probably could use a dime) and most importantly, to have READ the directions.

My mixer came with the pouring shield and dough hook, paddle, and wire whip attachments. The pouring shield is a bit cumbersome and I probably won't use much, but for those who find a bit of flour on the counter a problem, it might be useful. I find it a bit annoying that the wire whip is not supposed to go in the dishwasher. I have concluded this is because the base of the whip is made from aluminum, which dishwasher detergent will discolor.

The only thing I do wish it had is a light, as the aforementioned Sunbeam Mixmaster had. I didn't think I would miss it, but the kitchen in my antique Cape is awaiting a lighting upgrade, and it's dark in the bowl without that light. The instruction/recipe booklet that with the mixer is lame. I mean really, really lame. Skip those recipes and go directly to the bookstore section for [James] Beard on Bread, The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion: The All-Purpose Baking Cookbook, or any one of the other great books on baking and bread at Amazon.

Nonetheless, my KitchenAid seems to be a great mixer, and lo-carb diets be damned, I'm going full-carb ahead. Please pass the butter.

***March 14 update: Over the weekend, while making a cake, the mixer began to squeak loudly, getting worse as time went on. Not a good noise.... Today I called the customer satisfaction phone line and a new mixer is on its way, no questions asked, at no cost to me.

I am pleased there was no hassle with a replacement, but the very fact that I needed one is making me wonder what is up with the Artisan model.... Should I have opted for a bigger mixer? I would lower my star rating to 3 based on this experience.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Low Price KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I purchased this with great anticipation after reading all the praise from past reviewers. Therefore, I am very surprised to find the machine so difficult to use and clean. The plastic guard is tricky to put in place, but essential because otherwise the food will be all over the counter, instead of in the mixing bowl.

I cannot get any of the beaters to actually get the lumps out of mashed potatoes. My old hand mixer does a better job.

My Mom has a 30 year old Sunbeam that gets better results.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

My appliance broke within 5 minutes of use. Called KitchenAid customer service -- they answered my call promptly, arranged deliver for a new unit without giving me a hard time, sent the unit immediately (received in 4 days), and picked up the old unit; no cost to me. That turned a frustrating moment into a 5 star review.

The replacement has worked flawlessly for 3 weeks now.

I'm a novice at baking breads (I bought this primarily as a dough mixer), but my very first experiments (rolls and pizza crusts) turned out 200% better than the bread machine -- which will go in the next garage sale. Dough still requires a little bit of hand rolling after mixing, but it's 10% the energy required, if even that much.

The wisk did not perform well on my eggs... hand wisking is still better, but hardly important. I also got the pasta maker accessory. It takes a couple practice rounds, but then it's fun and easy.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.
