I have wanted one of these mixers for several years, but couldn't justify the purchase until my tired old Sunbeam broke. I was considering a larger one that I saw at a warehouse retailer for $60.00 more, but it was so tall that it wouldn't fit on the counter under my cabinets. I put off purchasing the Artisan Mixer due to the price. However, Amazon has the most discounted price around that I could find. I am very pleased with the mixer. I use it to mix cookie dough often and it never struggles. I love that I can turn it on and throw in the ingredients and it does all the work. It also has a stir speed so when I am making oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip I can even mix in those large ingredients without chopping them all into little pieces. Also the shield is a priceless addition to this model. The other Kitchen Aid mixers don't have this shield included with them but the Artisan does and actually that (along with the 325 W motor) was my reason for choosing this one!
