Amazon had an unbelievable good price on this thing and since the ol' Sunbeam bit the dust with parts not avaiable anymore (yes, I said it was an oldie) I decided to give the new Kitchen Aid a whirl. The sale was only on one color--red and far from my prefrence or black or white. Anyway, I have one of those hide-away joints on the counter and now have an excuse to use it.
Well now to the meat of it all. This puppy is heavy duty both in weight and in execution. Things have changed more than a little since I last used one of these and I did not realize what I was missing. Speeds so slow you could combine the thickest stuff with flouer and never have a spill. Only one beater and for me it was amazing that one did not have to scrape the sides of the bowl twice a minute. In fact, I have never had to scrape the sides of the bowl. You can crank up the speed to faster than anything one would need to be mixed and it just purrs. Good trick for a puppy.
Beside the basic mixing wand there is also a whisk, a bread kneader, and a slick and easy to clean top for the stainless steel mixing bowl. The top makes it really easy to add such things as nuts and chocalate chips.
When all is said and done this is a good buy at the regular price and the Amazon sale made it my best buy of the year! Thanks Kitchen Aid for this remarkable power house.
