The product itself works fantastically, no adjustments necessary straight out of the box. My wife has already used it several times and just loves the versatility and ease of use. No more grueling mixing by hand plus cleanup is really easy. The only downsides I found were that first, the unit had a light scrape on the side which dulled the paint and ruined an otherwise beautiful machine. I don't understand how this happens since these machines are supposedly assembled by hand and more than likely inspected before being packaged. The box had no signs of damage so I know the unit was scratched in the factory. I am in the process of replacing this unit through the included Kitchenaid warranty simply due to this minor cosmetic defect because, hey, when you pay this much for a quality machine you don't want a second-tier unit. It really is not even that noticeable, it's just the principle of the matter. The only other issue I found was that the splash shield did not protect the surrounding area when I attempted to mix a batch of homemade ice cream (the packaged powder you mix with milk) but it could be that I used the wrong attachment for this particular job. Looking back on it I probably should have used the whisk but at the time I wanted to get all the little solid clumps dissolved really well in the milk and didn't think the whisk would do as good a job as the beater attachement. Other than that this has been a fantastic unit.
