As a cooking/baking challenged single 41 year old, I'd been eyeballing this bad boy for a while. While I haven't had too much time to play around with it yet this is one solid piece of equipment. It's also quite heavy so make sure you have a permanent, accessible spot for it in you kitchen (my undersized kitchen needed to be rearranged to give my Kitchenaid the spot it needed). I'm still nervous about converting certain recipes I used to do by spoon/spatula to stand mixer for fear of over mixing but the mini cookbook included gives you good tips (I also recommend Alton Brown's "I'm Just Here For (More) Food" as he tell you up front a Kitchenaid Professional is what he's using for most recipes made with a mixer)

Not only did I save money for a great machine but I'm enjoying everything I can make with it. I definitely recommended. This machine will give you the opportunity to enjoy baking again. The only upside down about the machine is that it is heavy. I recommend that you just leave it on your kitchen counter that way you won't have to haul it around. However, it is not so heavy as that it is impossible to be carry. I'm a very petite 4'10" woman and I'm able to pick it up. Another advice is that if you do not leave it on your kitcken counter is that you should always carry it by the base of the machine to prevent any accidents. I had to chime in and say that the past year I have had my mixer has been a GREAT year in the kitchen. We eat out less because whipping up meals (excuse the pun) are much easier with this baby ready to do the work. Anyway, I got my cobalt blue mixer 3 years ago, purchased thru Amazon. I've used it many many times, for - bread, cookies, mashed potatoes, cakes, you name it! The motor is strong, the paddle/whisk/hook are easy to switch and clean, and the engineering of the bowl & agitator assembly movement really makes the most of the mixing. I never shy away from using it because of the cleaning, because whatever comes out is always totally worth it.
