What took me more than 1/2 hour of kneading by hand takes me no longer than 5 minutes with the mixer and the dough hook. I've made Italian bread that I'd put against any bakery loaf. I've mixed sauces like a pro. This machine really brings your cooking to another level. When using the mixer it is not possible to scrape the sides of the bowl while it is mixing so you have to stop it every so often to clean the sides. If you don't have the protector on the top and even sometimes when you do, it throws flour, etc., all over the place. It is too heavy.

I can't add much to what's already been written, but I bought mine in Onyx Black. It looks great sitting in my kitchen. I really loved the Empire Red, but I thought the Onyx would look less of a fad and go with whatever colors I decorated with in the future. I've owned a bowl-lift Pro model, but it was too tall to sit under the cabinets when not in use, and really, it had unnecessary power for just a home kitchen, in my opinion.

Also, if you have the option, get your paddle attachment in the white enamel instead of the stainless steel, it discolors if you put it through the washer.
