I have owned my Kitchenaide mixer since year 2000 and I don't know what I would do without it. It makes cookies without any effort whatsoever, just put every ingredient in and turn it on.. nothing to it. It kneads dough without sitting there and pounding the dough with your fist yourself, and we love making homemade tortillas and flat breads.. if I didn't make them this way, I wouldn't ever bother.. too much work. I can boil chicken breasts, put them in whole, turn it on and in no time at all, have chicken salad. I have used this product endlessly and it's a wonder to me why they don't warrant the product for longer. It's a really good product that would probably sell for more money if the warranty was longer. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys simplifying cooking and baking. I've wanted a Kitchenaid mixer for many years but could never justify the price with the limited amount of baking that I do. But with the addition of all the attachments now available and a recent Amazon sale I decided to go for it. I never should have waited so long! I've had my mixer for two days and have used it to make fresh ground hamburger and chicken, lemon squares, and cookies. The cookie recipe my family loves has always been a pain and very messy so I hardly ever made them. But with the KA Artisan mixer the work was drastically lessened and the only time I got my hands dirty was when I took the mixer blade off to wash it! My cookie dough was perfectly blended, no clumps of unmixed flour or sticky dough under my nails. The only problem was when I added the flour, forgot to put the pouring shield on, and accidentally turned the mixer on a bit to high. Poof! I had flour all over! But that was my own fault, not the mixers. I cannot possibly express how awesome this machine is. It makes cooking and baking SO much easier. No killing your arm mixing by hand, no scraping or turning the bowl- it does all the work for you. For example: I decided to try making mashed potatos with it- I've always done them by hand, and they're such a pain. Well, I tossed the potatos, butter and milk in the bowl, turned the machine on and walked away for a couple minutes... I came back and they were done. Perfect, fluffy, lump-free mashed potatos. I put off purchasing the Artisan Mixer due to the price. However, Amazon has the most discounted price around that I could find. I am very pleased with the mixer. I use it to mix cookie dough often and it never struggles. I love that I can turn it on and throw in the ingredients and it does all the work. It also has a stir speed so when I am making oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip I can even mix in those large ingredients without chopping them all into little pieces. Also the shield is a priceless addition to this model. The other Kitchen Aid mixers don't have this shield included with them but the Artisan does and actually that (along with the 325 W motor) was my reason for choosing this one! I can pour in flour and turn it up! With a hand mixer flour would be all over the kitchen, but not with this mixer! I would definitely purchase again, only I would have bought it years ago!
