KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I love this mixer! It's nice to have an all-in-one appliance on my countertop that I can use to do pretty much anything.
Be warned however that it is heavy (close to 30 lbs) and that the top mixer part only goes back so far, making some things a challenge. My only other complaint is how you have to push in & turn the mixer/beater/etc attachment into the top part. That wouldn't be a problem except if you're trying to remove the mixer/beater attachment after having just used it (i.e. to scrape the beater, for better access to the bowl, etc).

Aside from that, I just love it. My husband was skeptical at first but now thinks it's really cool.
As it's an expensive item, I shopped around quite a bit before purchasing and Amazon had the best price (although price varies by color). The free shipping is a major bonus given the weight of this machine. Amazon sometimes runs kitchen coupons so check for those and for kitchenaid rebates. My husband bought me this mixer for Christmas. We received the speedy shipment on Dec. 5 and there has not been a day since that I have not used my mixer! It is so simple to use and makes my everyday cooking so much easier and quicker. I have used the paddle, whip, and dough hook and find them very easy to clean. All but the whip can go right in the dishwasher. I was pleasantly surprised at just how much the bowl will hold. It is deceiving to look at. It looks small but can hold a double batch with no problem. I love the shield because I usually make a huge mess and this definitely helps me control it! I have made breads, whipped cream, cookies, pies, mashed potatoes, and other veggies, and mixed meatloaf so far with my mixer with no problem at all. I have used it back to back batches several times a day with no problem. I have not used any attachments yet because I just ordered them. I feel that the extra money spent on this mixer was definitely well worth it. The high quality of this mixer is obvious as soon as you open the box. I have previously burnt up several other big name stand mixers ($200 MIXERS) and so far so good here. If I had to pick one thing to not like about this mixer, I would say the weight. It is heavy so you don't want to put it where you are not going to be using it! I also found the Mixer Bible book to be helpful and it has loads of recipes for this mixer. I bought my Kitchenaid mixer in May 2006. I had been wanting one for a long time, and finally was able to afford one through Amazon. This is a hard working and dependable machine. I often make double batches of cookies, breads, other heavy doughs in it. It does the job so fast and well that I no longer have sore hands after baking these things. I purchased the vegetable shredder attachment, which makes the job of cutting up cabbage for cole slaw a snap. All of the mixer parts wash up easily, including the stainless steel bowl, which is invaluable for so many kitchen chores. I call my new helper "Black Beauty".
