The fact that it has a 325-watt motor was the real selling point. Now Mom is hard to please, and I was holding my breath until it arrived, thinking she would not like the fact it has a single beater. I thought she would reject it because she has always used two-beater mixers. Not so. She is thrilled with this mixer. The dual-action wide metal beater is 100% effective for mixing along the sides and the bottom of the bowl. The whisk is just what she needs for beating egg whites for her candy. The motor is very powerful and I doubt she will ever use speeds 9 or 10. The bowls lock into place and she won't hesitate to leave the mixer running while doing other kitchen duties. It's so heavy it won't vibrate off the countertop. The reviewer from CT must have written his review on the wrong page. This Artisan mixer has the tilt-back head, another of Mom's must-haves. It is the KitchenAid Professional mixer which has the stationary head and the bowl that moves up and down. I don't think we will hear a single complaint from my mother, my sister and I are thrilled with the sale price, rebate, free bowl, and free shipping, and I just can't wait until they go on sale again to order one for myself. This KitchenAid mixer is an excellent investment! I just love mine! The dough hook attachment is the greatest invention ever. No more kneading! I used this wonderful machine to make 4 pounds of Pizza Geina dough without breaking a sweat. Add your ingredients, turn it on and it does the rest! It has a very powerful motor and every part of this mixer is excellent quality and well made. It is simple to lock in the mixing bowl and it is also a breeze to clean. The different attachments are very easy to attach and remove. It would be impossible not to love it! Did I mention how easy the clean up is? I had been searching and researching these mixers for a couple of months and had hoped to get one for Christmas from the family. But when it came up on my gold box specials, I couldn't resist and bought it myself. Keep checking amazon daily, with my new amazon visa and the deal they offered that day along with free shipping, it was an unbelievable.

Now for the artisan mixer, I received it a couple of days ago and have had wonderful things come from it. I love the tilt head and think the professional ones are way to big for your regular non-pro cook. The artisan fits and looks great under my counter. The cookies have a beautiful texture to them and the mixer mixes them with no problem, quieter than I imagined it could be (family can still hear the TV without turning the volume up). Also my mashed potatoes were heavenly, only had to use 1/2 cup of milk in them, they are so light and fluffy, not heavy or sticky.

My son laughed when he saw I bought the majestic yellow. He knew I always wanted a yellow corvette car. He said, "looks like you settled for a yellow mixer mom".
