This mixer truly does live up to it's reputation. It is well made and works like a dream. I loved the clover leaf roll recipe in the included recipe book...

As for the color, the options are there if you want to pay more, but if plain old white is good enough for Paula Deen, Giada Delaurentis and Ina Garten, then I'd say I'm in good company because white will never go out of style...it's a classic mixer color and this mixer is so well made it will probably outlast the many kitchen decorating fads bound to change in the years to come.

I have wanted one of these mixers for several years, but couldn't justify the purchase until my tired old Sunbeam broke. I can tell you that the quality and workmanship is there and I am thrilled with this powerful, sturdy mixer. For home use, I don't think you could ask for anything more. I was considering a larger one that I saw at a warehouse retailer for $60.00 more, but it was so tall that it wouldn't fit on the counter under my cabinets. After using this workhorse of a mixer, I'm convinced that it is absolutely the perfect size for my needs... I don't know if I would ever want a larger mixer because this thing has confidently handled large batches of everything that I wanted to make for my large family without skipping a beat and without hogging tons of counter space.

As for Amazon, their service was exemplary. I opted for their free Super Saver shipping and still had my new mixer within 2 days of placing my order. I can really get behind a company that under-promises and over- delivers. I haven't seen a deal like Amazon offers on this model anywhere and I have looked for a long time. The nearest thing would be a refurbished model and it was still more expensive and that was before the rebate!! I don't know how they can offer this deal, but I'm thankful that they did. In any case, although it sounds too good to be true, this definitely is the real thing. I have owned my Kitchenaide mixer since year 2000 and I don't know what I would do without it. It makes cookies without any effort whatsoever, just put every ingredient in and turn it on.. nothing to it. It kneads dough without sitting there and pounding the dough with your fist yourself, and we love making homemade tortillas and flat breads.. if I didn't make them this way, I wouldn't ever bother.. too much work. I can boil chicken breasts, put them in whole, turn it on and in no time at all, have chicken salad. I have used this product endlessly and it's a wonder to me why they don't warrant the product for longer. It's a really good product that would probably sell for more money if the warranty was longer. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys simplifying cooking and baking. I've wanted a Kitchenaid mixer for many years but could never justify the price with the limited amount of baking that I do. But with the addition of all the attachments now available and a recent Amazon sale I decided to go for it. I never should have waited so long! I've had my mixer for two days and have used it to make fresh ground hamburger and chicken, lemon squares, and cookies. The cookie recipe my family loves has always been a pain and very messy so I hardly ever made them. But with the KA Artisan mixer the work was drastically lessened and the only time I got my hands dirty was when I took the mixer blade off to wash it! My cookie dough was perfectly blended, no clumps of unmixed flour or sticky dough under my nails. The only problem was when I added the flour, forgot to put the pouring shield on, and accidentally turned the mixer on a bit to high. Poof! I had flour all over! But that was my own fault, not the mixers.
