We got the Kitchenmaid Artisan at a super low price so have been very satisfied with the purchase. It looks great and makes great bread dough!!
A minor weak point is the poor design of the pivot rod which works loose and causes the top part to detach from the base - very worrying with this heavy mixer!
Overall a very good looking and performing mixer that I would recommend to friends and family.

I love it! I used this mixer several times in the first two weeks I had it, and it worked beautifully. I did have to adjust it once because the dry ingredients at the very bottom of the bowl weren't being completely incorporated into the mixture, but the adjustment was clearly explained, simple to do, and corrected the problem immediately. I love my KitchenAid Artisan mixer! I use it almost every time I cook. My favorite thing to make is whole wheat bread. YUMMY! The only complaint I have is that I haven't figured out how to make really good cookies with it. I think I might be overworking the dough since I'm not used to having a mixer so powerful. Oh, well.
