I have always wanted a kitchen-aid stand mixer, but never wanted to invest that much money. I've been using a cheaper sunbeam mixer for several years now. About a week before I was going to do my Christmas baking, I found the Kitchen Aid mixer on Amazon for $199 with free shipping! How could I pass that up? Some colors were more, but I liked the blue, anyway. Why would the price vary so much depending on color? The cheapest were at $199, the most expensive at 299! Anyway, on to the review... It can handle double batches of cookies and banana bread with ease - no overflows like the last mixer. I've done pizza dough a couple of times and my family says it's the best ever! (The machine kneads the dough much better than I could ever do by hand.) Clean up is so quick and easy. It is a heavy little bugger, so anyone with back issues should leave it on the counter! I have very little counter space, so I put it on a shelf when not in use. It's only about 25lbs, but it's not something my grandmother would carry around! I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes to bake a lot. But it is big and expensive for someone that would only break it out once or twice a year.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Nice, heafty price. Only problem seems to be the food gets spun to the top of the bowl and is not mixed in well, so you must keep an eye on your batter.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

Pros: We primarily use it for mixing dough, it does its job well.
Cons: Metal Bowl not easy to remove or fix it to the stand, there could be some improvement done there by the manufacturer.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Best Quality
For the most part I have had great success with KitchenAid products. I purchased the Artisan before my Christmas baking for the increased power and bowl size over the KitchenAid Classic which I have had for well over 10 years. I immediately had to adjust the height of the beaters (which is supposed to be preset at the factory) because they were scraping the bottom of the bowl. This didn't work. I had already given my daughter my Classic so I was desperate for a good mixer. I took it to a repair shop to have a new bolt added because it was broken on the mixer I had ordered. I figured it would have taken a long time to send it off and receive a replacement. This seems to work OK but my Classic was still a better-made mixer.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

This mixer is beautiful. I got the cobalt blue one and I love it. As far as the functionality of it goes, I would rate it at about a 3. The reasons are:
1. When I doubled a recipe I have for chocolate chip cookies, the mixer got
very hot and I worried about the motor seizing up.
2. Filling it is a bit cumbersome.
3. Because of the configuration of the bowl, you need to stop and scrape
quite often in order to get the mixture to mix well.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

This is a really great mixer. It is very powerful and mixes the thicker, stiffer doughs and batters very well. The coating on the dough hook and the paddle beater make cleanup easy. I found the splatter guard was nice to keep things in the bowl but I didn't like the slot in it that you use to pour ingredients into the bowl. It was easier for me to just pour down the side of the mixing bowl. I would buy this again.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.
