KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Best Quality

I have always wanted one. They are such a beautiful piece of equipment. I decided upon the imperial gray, it is a great color that doesn't show fingerprints or smears because of the non-shiny finish. Amazon's service was great and very fast, as always. But my complaint is that my mixer was not mixing all the way on the sides and bottom so we adjusted the screw like recommended and it took care of the mixing on the bottom but it still doesn't mix the sides very well. I do not like that you cannot reach inside the bowl to scrape unless you lift the top and then you still have to reach around the beater. I preferred the Oster stand mixer that I had for years because it had a large, wide bowl that spun. You could scrape as it mixed. I wish I had gotten the Sunbeam Heritage instead which has the shallow, wide bowls, comes with 2 different sizes. I could have saved money too.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

I bought this mixer as "refurbished," and saved some bucks. It comes with the burnished steel flat beater and dough hook, as opposed to the painted ones. I learned too late that only the painted attachments are dishwasher safe! Now the hook and beater are a dark mottled color. Still work fine, just needed to be well scrubbed to get the dark residue off. That'll teach me to read the manual first.

One reviewer expressed disappointment in some gears of the mixer being nylon, and getting stripped out. My dealer told me that a number of the parts inside are "sacrificial," that is, small inexpensive parts are designed to fail before large expensive parts do. This is a good thing! Think of it the same way as the crumple zones in your car's body. They get crushed, so you don't.

I've used the mixer to make bread, and it came out perfect. I made pancake batter this morning, and the flat beater mixed all the way down to the bottom of the bowl just as it is supposed to. If yours doesn't, use the adjuster screw. The splash guard is misnamed-- its main purpose is to give you a chute for adding material. Some splashing will still occur, but to be fair the manual says the splash guard "reduces" splashing, not eliminates it.

A note on refurbished models; I was assured that they are demos and trade show displays, not warranty returns. No mixer that has been sold to a consumer will show up later as refurbished. I don't know what they do with the warranty returns.

You'll have this mixer a long time, so get the model you really want and the color you can live with for 20+ years. I love mine, and my once-skeptical wife is now a believer too.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Buy Now

I just bought my new Kitchenaid Artisan Cobalt Blue mixer today. I read most of the reviews here and I have to agree that it is a terrific machine. I tossed my old hand mixer in the trash a few hours later. There is also a nice little receipe binder included for those novice users like myself.

I checked the machine against all the complaints that were mentioned in these reviews. My conclusion: Some of the people with negative reviews probably shouldn't be allowed to operate motorized vehicles.

I just bought the can opener attachment and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. Do yourself a favor and get this one.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

I am actually new to using a mixer. The only thing I have ever owned was a cheap hand mixer just to mix cake batter.I recieved my mixer as a gift and am delighted. NOW it seems a whole new world of cooking opportunity has opened for me with my Kitchenaid mixer. I guess that sounds cheesy to experienced cooks but I am so excited and wonder why I never bought one of these before. Just a couple nights ago I made a cake and a Watergate salad with my mixer and it was so fast and easy! Cleanup was a cinch too. And this is one HEAVY DUTY piece of equipment. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is I don't know what a five star mixer works like. Maybe this is a 5 star and I just don't know it! It works great. Now I just have to make up my mind about the sausage stuffing attachment.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Decide Now

This is a substantial machine! It workes like a breeze! The instructional book that came with it has some great recipes! I changed the one for Pizza Crust by putting whole wheat flour in place of the all purpose flour and it worked perfectly as well. The instructional guide is super helpful! I read a negative review about the color - Caviar, but it is attractive and does match pretty well with my black kitchenaid food processor.
The main problem with these is deciding on a color!!! Too much selection perhaps?? Just kidding. It is very convenient but once it is on your counter, don't move it because it weighs a ton! Very happy with my purchase and just looking for excuses to use it more!Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red Right now

I had waited years before I finally received my kitchenaid mixer. I actually clapped the first time I made something in it. I now find myself looking for things to mix in it that I wouldn't ordinarily do. This mixer is incredible - it made the fluffiest cheesecake I'd ever made, as well as some fantastic mashed potatoes. I even tried some of the recipies in the manual, and everything comes out great. Kneading dough is a breeze, and cookies are mixed in no time. I highly recommend this item.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.

My wedding gift mixer (a Sunbeam Mixmaster) turned 33 a week before Christmas, and my husband thought it was time for me to have a new one. He gifted me on Christmas with the KitchenAid 5 Qt. Artisan in white. I love this mixer and leave it out on my counter, something I never did with the Mixmaster. I recently purchased the citrus juicer attachment from Amazon and am very pleased with it as well. I have not read all 109 previous reviews on this site, but I have read a few that were disgruntled because their Artisans did not mix well. I initially had the same problem with the beater/bowl clearance. It is very simple to remedy. There is a beater adjustment screw on the mixer and the manual describes how to make the adjustments. I got even better instructions by calling customer support at KitchenAid. The technician told me to drop a dime into the empty bowl, turn the mixer on (about setting 2) using the flat beater, and it should move the dime 1/4" to 1/2" each time it rotates around the bowl. This is the right clearance for the beater to mix everything at the bottom of the bowl, but not low enough to cause wear on the beater from constant friction with the bottom of the bowl during usage. I tweaked the screw setting 1/4 turn each time until I got that dime moving. At this setting, I can now beat a single egg white to stiff peaks in the 5 qt. bowl. That's impressive.
This mixer is as sturdy as a tank, and you can hear the quality as it mixes. Although I had previously purchased a KitchenAid mixer for my daughter as a gift, I would never have splurged on one for myself. I am so happy my husband thought I was worth it!Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.
