I'm an avid baker, I love making everything from cookies to cakes. The kitchenaide is about the only tool i need. I grew up with my mother having one and loving it. In fact, she still has hers that she received as a gift from my father in the mid 90s. Her attachments (the whisk and such) broke down before the machine or bowl did, might have something to do with her putting them in the dishwasher. I love mine just as I loved hers. It's a beautiful piece of machinery. However, if you really want it to last a long time, you've got to invest in the "HEAVY DUTY" edition. In order to compete with the cheaper devices, I guess the company had to make a "bottom line" edition. I've never personally known anyone who wasn't satisfied with their machine. I love all kitchenaide appliances and utensils and would recommend them to anyone. If your machine breaks down I know kitchenaide has a warranty of some sort.
