Have owned my KitchenAid Artisan mixer for years. Love it's power, longevity and usefulness.
Cuts through bread dough easily. Whips egg whites to meringue quickly. Large capacity bowl is plenty for most recipes. If you need a larger model go with KitchenAid's Professional model KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter.
The only con is that it is extremely heavy. You really need to keep it out on the counter or you probably won't use it. I have an under-counter shelf that lifts up and out, locking into place at counter height. You might want to consider this sort of set up if you do not like having appliances out in the open.
