I bought this mixer after nearly every member of my family recommended it. I love it. I've mixed some pretty tight doughs with this mixer without troubles. I was torn between spending more $ for a more powerful model mixer or the 5 qt mixer. If you make a lot of cookies I would recommend the next size up or the commercial grade version. I don't know what I did without this wonderful thing.
I don't recommend getting the Onyx Black because the darn thing is impossible to keep clean. If I did it again, I would buy the matte silver.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.
