It took me 8 years to convince my husband that the standmixer his grandmother gave me for my bridal shower was worthless. My KitchenAid finally arrived 10 days ago. Hallelujah!!!!!!!! I took it out of the box, cleaned it, and got going. Something easy first, I didn't want to break it before I'd done at least one thing right... My first project was Shortbread that came out absolutely perfect, and not a speck of flour left in the bottom of the bowl. So, on to the next project, the heaviest dough I could think of. And guess what? It did it, no more kneading bread dough or pizza dough, or anything else, for me. Need whipped cream? Forgot to let your butter soften before needing to whip it? No problem for my new kitchen aid. There are only 2 drawbacks. 1. If you have to whip something in a warm or cold waterbath, it's still handwork (unless you get the bowl-lift design) and 2. When using different beaters, I have to adjust the height between beaters (which is done in 10 seconds or less and takes a standard screwdriver). So, compared to anything else on the market, the drawbacks aren't drawbacks at all. I gotta say, it just doesn't get any better than this!
