KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red This instant

I recently purchased an Artisan model Kitchen Aid mixer for my wife as a Christmas present. After researching the product line and price comparisons in retail outlets I chose to purchase on-line primarily for price. I received the mixer in a timely manner and upon inspecting the product after delivery I noticed that the decorative chrome strip that is located in the center of the mixer head and encompasses the entire product had a large gap on both sides where it is mounted with two screws, one on either side at the rear of the mixer. The gaps were were considerable, (approximately 1/16 inch). Upon closer inspection I thought the screws had slipped in shipment but after loosening these and sqeezing the chrome inward I could only eliminate about 50% of the problem. I still found this to be unacceptable so I removed the chrome strip and enlarged the mounting holes an additonal 1/16 inch in diameter and reassembled. This corrected the problem and my wife was pleased with the mixer as it performed flawlessy on the first application. I am left wondering whether the great price from Amazon was based on a blemished product or this was just faulty visual inspection from a lazy Korean employee. Kitchen Aid should do a better job of quality control if they are going to use the slogan "Buy it for the way it's made".Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red.
