My wife and I chose this mixer because it was the "standard" mixer to get. It is the first one you think about when you think "stand mixer." I was inclined to go with other brands as I liked some of the European brands features, but the price was good and after my wife used it for the first time, she loved it. That is all that mattered.
One thing that we don't like is that the supplied splash shield doesn't prevent all the mess and there is a gap at the back of it that provides an easy escape point for ingredients.
