I unpacked it today. I found that the accessories were designed by people who understood that they would have to be cleaned after use! The drive shaft to which the food grinder and other accessories are attached is accessible and is keyed so that you know when the unit is properly connected. The food grinder, even though partly made of plastic, is metal in the parts that transfer power. The unit is very easy to clean, assemble and to attach to the Artisan. There is ample power to perform the required task with speed and without worry that something will break. After grinding 2 lbs of lean pork and some bacon, to add a little fat and flavor, the unit was very easy to disassemble and to clean.
