The ONLY problem I had was to choose the right color! I finally feel like a real baker again! This is not just an appliance this is an investment! I am going to slowly get the other attachments & just have a ball! Slowly I will be able to get more "junk" off my counter space & be able to clean out all of the "OLD" stuff that I no longer need. Have owned my KitchenAid Artisan mixer for years. Love it's power, longevity and usefulness.
Cuts through bread dough easily. Whips egg whites to meringue quickly. Large capacity bowl is plenty for most recipes. If you need a larger model go with KitchenAid's Professional model KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter.
The only con is that it is extremely heavy. You really need to keep it out on the counter or you probably won't use it. I have an under-counter shelf that lifts up and out, locking into place at counter height. You might want to consider this sort of set up if you do not like having appliances out in the open. My 21 year-old Classic KitchenAid mixer is still going strong but we got this one in Empire Red for a second home.

Now that a few months have passed and much use here is why I would like to re-do this review:
1. The mixer does NOT come with a dough hook!
2. The whisk-type beater intended for egg whites, cake batter, etc., is EXTREMELY small. It does not actually meet with either the sides or the bottom of the bowl!!! I couldn't believe it. My old Kitchenaid beater makes noise because it leaves barely a molecule of eggwhite between the beater and the bowl. This one takes forever to whip egg whites because the beater does not EVER touch the bowl.
