I saved up for this mixer for the last four months. If I had known that I was going to love it as much as I do, I don't think that I would have had the dicipline to wait to purchase it. I made up a batch of icing today that normaly takes at least 10 minutes to mix with a hand held mixer. (I have even burned out the motor on a hand held making this.) No kidding, my icing was mixed, fluffy and ready to spread in 30 seconds!!! I will never use another mixer. I would give it 10 stars if I could. After a lengthly search for the perfect stand mixer Kitchen Aid combined the performance qualities we wanted with the perfect purple color. Wow, do we get the most delightful comments! My son calls it my "Purple-People-Eater" & said he wouldn't be surprised if they made this model just for me. The color is just a bonus compared to the wonderful performance derived from this mixer.
We have made bread & pizza dough that I would never have attempted before. Homemade mayonaise is now a whiz to prepare. Our family's favorite is how well it whips the egg whites to perfection for the lightest, mile-high souffles we've ever experienced. Creamy mashed potatoes are effortlessly made with nary a lump in sight. The whole family is now actually volunteering to help instead of hiding until dinner is ready. I'm certainly no expert, since this is the first stand mixer I've owned, but I've had it for about 6 weeks now and I have really used it. I've been kneading bread dough with it at least once a week (and I never baked bread from scratch before) and making muffins and cookies, whipped potatoes, pizza dough, anything and everything. I haven't used the wire whip yet. Both of the other attachments and the bowl I've been washing in the dishwasher with great success. I've mixed up double batches of bread dough, pizza dough, and muffins, with lots of room to spare in the bowl and no apparent strain on the motor. I haven't needed to go past the first two speeds.
