I love Kitchen Aid, and have always been impressed by their quality. I am a little upset to see them gradually outsourcing their manufacturing. A lot of thier products are now made in Communist China. What isn't completely made overseas is partially outsourced to 3rd world countries so that they can still advertise that the product was "assembled" in the USA. When you are paying this much money for a product, they can afford to support our free country instead of Communist countries (where the majority of the profits go to the US-hating leadership and not the deprived citizens,) or other countries that do not have to abide by the same standards that we have to here. So far this product has held up fine, (as I have only had it for a month and Amazon already wants me to review it,) but with the sacrifice of moral standards usually comes a sacrifice of quality standards. It is new and in the box at an unbeatable price. The only negative thing about it was shipping. The ad says it shipped withing 24 hours. After a few days I was fairly upsett that the ad said shipped withing 24 hours and it was an amazon direct deal. I figured that amazon would have it out by then. Once I call. They gave the old sob story about free shipping and I needed to wait for processing this and that unless I paid for expedited delivery. They shipped it out the next day. I have it. I am happy. I just will not believe them if they say ships in 24 hours again.

A few comments suggest that the mixer is awkward - bowl attaching to base and controls on left side. Although having the controls on the right-hand side would be nice, it's not so cumbersome that you cannot adjust. As for the bowl attaching to the base? A simple twist is all it takes. Nothing hard about that. I love my mixer. It's beats holding a hand mixer and it beats batters faster than using a hand mixer. I've had a KitchenAid mixer for a year. I love it. I'm a semi-pro baker, in that I bake muffins and cookies out of my house for local shops. I use my KitchenAid for all the heavy lifting and it performs beautifully. I work it hard everyday and I've never had any problems. I seen many people mention The Mixer Bible in their reviews and I have to agree. It's a great book. No frills, just a very solid cookbook that covers all aspects of the mixer. I had wanted to purchase a KitchenAid for several years but for various reasons was unable to. I did look at the fancier version that has a 6-Quart capability (and if you are consistantly making professional wedding cakes, perhaps the 6-Q option would be better for you), but for my needs - pie crusts, pizza dough, bread, gingerbread, sugar cookies - etc, this 5-Q version is perfect.

Changing out the 3 attachments is simple, as is cleaning them. I like that the bowl locks in, but can be removed (again, easier cleaning). The mixer is not overly loud (compared to the hand mixer I was using previously) and though heavy it is movable.

Love it! Only issue is that it's still a little difficult to pour ingredients in while the beater is in the "down" position. Pouring chute doesn't help a whole lot (especially since it is something else to wash). Cleans up nicely.
