I bought this mixer for my girlfriend for Christmas. I ended up giving it to her early because I knew she would get a lot of use out of it with her Christmas cookie baking. It did a fantastic job! Whatever dough she through at it, didn't slow it down one bit. The motor in this machine is very powerful. I was also impressed with how well the beater scraped all of the mix off of the inside the bowl. We are now looking at getting grinder attachment to make homemade sausage. Great mixer! Using the Amazon web site to order was easy and convenient. Delivery was on time and in perfect condition. The KitchenAid Artisan does everything it claims to do. It has more than enough power and handles very easily. It is flexible enough to do many jobs, especially if accessories are used.

In comparing it with our previous mixer, a Sunbeam Mixmaster, my wife likes the extra power. However she does miss the wider bowl of the Mixmaster and the two counter-rotating blades which she feels did a better job of blending ingredients quickly.

I looked at the larger KitchenAid mixers and decided that they were too big and heavy to be convenient for using and storing under the countertop. The mixer I received from Amazon had two defects. The bowl was jammed onto the base so tight that I had to use a rubber mallet to remove it. The cause was a burr on the stainless steel bowl thread . The paint finish on the base was nicked in several places and had been touched up with paint. A call to KitchenAid resulted in a great response.
