My husband gave me my own KitchenAid Artisan mixer several years ago, but for years I had been using the Kitchen Aid stand mixer that was given to my mom and dad as a wedding gift in 1946. I've been wanting one of these for years. The free shipping and rebate made Amazon a good deal. So for my birthday, I went for it. Now I'm wondering why I waited so long. Granted, you probably won't use this everyday. It still beats dealing with a wobbly bowl and a hand mixer.

There are a lot more color options available on Amazon too. I just had to have the tangerine mixer. If that doesn't suit your fancy, there are a bunch of other choices available. I also decided against the refurbished model. I'd rather spend the extra $$ for a new machine. I figure this is an investment that will last a lifetime.

The one complaint or caution i have is that the mixers don't go entirely to the bottom of the bowl. You need to mix things a little by hand when you're done.
