I bought this mixer 3 years ago, and use it to mix small batches of concrete for my model railroad projects, also for minor patching in the driveway. For larger jobs, probably one of the pro models would be better.

It also works well as a rock polisher. Just add some smooth stones, enough abrasive polishing compound to cover, and let it run on the "stir" setting for about 2 weeks, using the beater paddle. It's a little bit noisy, but putting it out in the garage solves the problem for me.

It also comes in handy for making bricks out of wet clay and straw. The dough hook is perfect for this! Be careful though, you need to add enough water or the thing bogs down and heats up. You can make enough brick batter to fill 4 average size brick molds, which can be made from scrap plywood lined with old carpet (You have to pull the carpet off before they completely dry. This is important!). Then bake the bricks at 1500 to 1800 degrees for 10 to 12 hours. I do this by repeating the "clean" cycle on my KitchenAid electric range. It's a long slog, but the satisfaction of making your own bricks is indescribable. Plus, you can add colors for endless varieties!
