Low Price KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I ordered this for my wife as an x-mas gift. I normally wouldn't have given an appliance as a gift but she really wanted one and suggested it. Thinking it would be similar in quality and reputation as one her mother and grandmother had, we were both disappointed.

After getting the mixer out of the box and cleaning the bowl and mixing attachements, we put in a couple of eggs and added the wisk attachment. The recipe called for beating the eggs before other things went in. When we turned on the mixer it had a very loud squeaking noise. It sounded horrible and hurt our ears. We tried it at different speeds but got the same results. It sounded like metal scraping against metal without anything to reduce the friction.

Kitchen Aid was great at sending us a new one. They had me hold the phone to the mixer while I turned it on. I told the lady from Kitchen Aid that I was shocked but she took it in stride and said that it happens often.

The new mixer arrived 6 weeks later. They were back-ordered on all colors. We ended up getting a color that my wife didn't really want in order to get it sooner. The new mixer doesn't squeak when you turn it on but it does make a horrible grinding noise at the two lowest speeds. It seized up 30 seconds later without mixing a single recipe.

I know that a lot of people love these mixers based on their previous reputations. My advice to you would be to keep the receipt as you'll likely be returning it. Also note that Kitchen Aid is known to post reviews here in favor of itself. Be wary of reviewers who refuse to post under their real name. I'm a real customer, not an employee being paid to write reviews.

I love my new Artisan mixer. It makes baking so much easier. I always thought I didn't really need one, that I could use my hand held blender to do all the mixing, but baking is so much easier and more fun now. I had been wanting this mixer for years and finally received it for Christmas. I have had less expensive mixers in the past- even the $99 Sunbeam with the same power as this mixer. The problem with the others is that they were not heavy enough to stay in place when I would make cookie or bread dough. Not so with this machine. It is solid and barely moves with the thickest of doughs. I had to give up baking from scratch due to arthritis until I got this mixer. It makes the process so easy and painless that I can now bake again. I love this machine!!! It has been worth every penny. I have to admit that this mixer does take a lot of space on the limited counterspace that I have but there is no way that I wouldn't have on my counter. I'm willing to sacrifice the space on my counter for the power of this mixer. I especially love the grinder. My family likes to eat a lot of tacos made with chicken breast, however ground chicken is expensive and you don't always know what you're getting. With this machine we are able to purchase the boneless skinless chicken breasts and grind them ourselves. The only thing I would recommend if you choose to do this is to make sure that the pieces of meat aren't too big for it. I ended up accidentaly ran a peice of chicken that was too big and burnt up the motor in it.

My husband bought me a new one for Christmas, and when I told my parents about the problem. My dad told me to give him the machine that he would pay to have it fixed for my mother. When he called Kitchenaide, they just said they were going to ship him a new one. No problem. She couldn't have been happier, now we both have the mixer and it's great.
