I used to buy store bought cookies and ready to bake packages for cookies and cakes, etc. I started watching Marta Stewart's new show MARTHA. She always uses this and most of the time ask her guest if they have one and how fabulous it is, and if they don't have one that they should really get one. So, I finally decided to take Martha's word and went and got the ONYX colored one. I just love it. So far the cookies I have made with it are the best cookies ever. I have made some of the ones that come with the appliance, and some of the ones from Martha's Holiday Cookies magazine, and they came out just perfect and delicious. Please if you don't have one of these, you need to get one, you'll be amazed at the quality of your baking with this appliance. I never thought I could make any cookies completely from scratch, now I will never go back to store bought cookies when I can make them my own and know exactly what went in them. I just got the KA mixer for x-mas and I love it! I wish I'd had it for holiday baking and Thanksgiving. I've spent the last few days experimenting with it, making everything from bread to mashed sweet potatoes to pie crust. It handles it all well. Of course, because it's my new baby, I'm tempted to use it all the time, but I'm sure I still will, even when the new wears off. I was given the mixer with The Mixer Bible. I've seen several other reviewers mention the cookbook and I will say that it has been very helpful as I get used to the new piece of equipment. KitchenAid should put a better cookbook in with the mixer, but the one they have is not much help. I'm glad I had the Mixer Bible.

I love this mixer. It is a little small, but for the regular homemaker, it works like a charm. The color (cinnamin) looks wonderful in my oak kitchen. I wish the guard was a little thicker plastic, but it still works great. Me and my kids are really enjoying it, and the speed is great. It is a little noisy at first, but you need to work the kinks out, as with any new product. Ordering the Artisan from Amazon was seamless. Great price and quick delivery. The mixer seems very durable and we have mixed frostings to bread dough with no problems. Initially the motor did not sound quite right - on low speed it sounded like a 2-stroke engine instead of a steady hum. I called KA customer service - you actually get a real person in a few seconds and did not have to go through a maze of automated instructions. They quickly assessed the problem and shipped me out a new Artisan in about 3 days with prepaid shipping and pickup at my door to return the defective unit. All I have to say is WOW! This is an awesome product! I have used it numerous times and can't believe how well it mixes no matter what I throw in the bowl. I am not a serious chef, this fits my life well. The only complaint that I have about it is that the "Cranberry" color isn't really cranberry... it's more like hot pink which REALLY stands out in my kitchen. I decided to keep this color, however, because I think that it is cool and adds a little funky to an otherwise pretty normal kitchen. I can't believe that I made it this long without this and wish I had bought a couple for Christmas presents when the price was so right. $199.99 plus free shipping and $25.00 off for promotional purposes! It ended up costing me $174.99, how in the world could you beat that? Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond have it listed as $269.99. I bought this mixer for my girlfriend for Christmas. I ended up giving it to her early because I knew she would get a lot of use out of it with her Christmas cookie baking. It did a fantastic job! Whatever dough she through at it, didn't slow it down one bit. The motor in this machine is very powerful. I was also impressed with how well the beater scraped all of the mix off of the inside the bowl. We are now looking at getting grinder attachment to make homemade sausage. Great mixer!
